Teeny Weeny Books

So, how did my Saturday open house go, you ask?  Well,  not too bad... I didn't have huge sales, but I had enough to make it worthwhile and of course, it is always so much fun to get together with my other home party friends.  I probably spent more money on Norwex, Epicure, Mary Kay and Partylite stuff than I actually made, but who can pass up an opportunity to shop (almost) from home?

It was absolutely hilarious the evening before when I packed up my suitcases with books.  I usually use two small suitcases that I can fairly easily handle myself, but since the open house was just in the rec centre, and I was going to be doing some "cash and carry" trade, I upped the size of one of the suitcases... and the weight.  After struggling with it down the staircase to the main door, I decided to take my lovely husband's up on his offer to take it over to the rec centre for me.  I think he's still regretting that offer ;-)

At any rate, I had a nice big table to set my display up on, and I brought along my laptop too so people could browse the online catalogue.  I love my internet usb stick!

Oh, and I'm just setting up my new branded Usborne site.  Now people can shop online with me!  Yippee! 

It may not feel like, but man, it's almost summer, and so too, it's time for my last Open House before those lazy, warm days hit!  I'm sure they are coming!

So, after a little break in December and part of January, I'm back working.  I had a great time at Convention in January, and can't wait to tell you about all the exciting things happening over the next little while... but I'll share them out slowly as the various new books and things come out in the New Titles!

February, I have a couple of shows booked - one here in Calgary (more a kickoff for a new associate), and one in Victoria!  Yup, on a family visit, I'll be working :) Also, I have a combined Open House coming up on the Saturday the 13th.  See the details below!

Wow, it's been busy this year!  I'm really enjoying selling Usborne books and I've been trying to have a couple of shows or events each month - that's kind of my commitment to myself.  And it's worked out fairly well.  I think I'll give myself a break for December.  Way too many things to do before Christmas!

I did have another smaller Open House in November up at a friend's place in Edgemont - Mary Kay, Norwex, Fifth Avenue, Epicure and Partylites reps were also there.  I wasn't sure what kind of turnout we'd have as it was on the 28th - the day after that huge dump of snow, and all the accidents in the city.  I wasn't sure if people would want to turn out - but they did!  Now I'm just hoping that all the books get here before Christmas.  Usborne did say that orders that went in before 3 December will arrive in time for Christmas.

So, what else?  Well, I've got a friend who's just joined me in the business.  She decided to take advantage of the great Kit deal in November and join up.  She's mainly interested in building a great library for her own kids, so she won't be that active, but I'll be helping her in the next few weeks to get the $200 in sales (that's really only one qualified show) in the initial 12 week window.  She actually has a bit of an advantage for booking shows and stuff - the usual "double hostess credits" for new consultants thing has been extended (due to this time of year sometimes slowing down just before Christmas/New Year's and just after).  She can offer double hostess credits for her shows for 8 weeks i.e. until mid-February!  Nice eh?

And also on the same note, for the rest of us consultants and hostesses, Usborne is offering another booking incentive in January.  If we prebook the show before 15 December, then the hostess gets double the free books.  For example, if it's a $200 show, then the hostess would normally get $25 in free books (or $50 for $15 - the 70% off deal), but with a pre-booked show in January, she'd get $50 in free books (or the $50 for $15 deal, along with another $25 in free books)!  I'm liking this double hostess credits deal!!  So, if anyone out there reads this and wants that great deal, email or call me, and book a show before 15 December.
